A message from the FWRC:
Dear Members and Friends of the FWRC,
Our biggest event of the year, the Labor Day 15K/5K Run, continues to grow!
Last year, we had over 1300 participants. This year, we are expecting
1500+ runners and walkers. Why not offer your time and enthusiasm to the
many volunteer opportunities that are available?
Here is how you can help and still run the race:
· Assist with packet pick-up by volunteering for a 2-hour shift or longer
at Luke’s Locker from Thursday, September 3rd to Sunday, September 6th
during store hours.
· Volunteer for an evening to stuff 1,500 race bags.
· Volunteer for race-day registration.
· Assist with the Kids’ 1K race at 7:15 a.m. We promise you will make
it to the 15/5k start line at 7:30.
Can’t Run? Don’t miss the fun! If you are temporarily sidelined
due to an injury, by all means don’t sleep in and sit at home! You too
can join in the fun and craziness of experiencing a race “from the other
side.” There are plenty of race-day volunteer opportunities available:
· Serve refreshments
· Assist with kids’ games and activities
· Help at the finish line
· Assist at the award’s table
· Work a water stop while cheering on our runners and walkers
Other ways you can help:
· Invite all of your non-running friends and family members to volunteer.
Who knows; maybe they might be inspired to become runners themselves!
· Consider a cash or in-kind donation. Every donation means so much to
us--whether it is a $50.00 donation to assist with the purchase and
refurbishment of our Kids’ trophies or $150 for the rental of the bounce
house. (Last year, we had over 200 children run our Kids’ 1K race.)
· Become a sponsor! Please consider advertising your product or service
through a race sponsorship. Donations of food and drinks are especially
helpful. For more information on sponsorships, please email Elizabeth
at treasurer@fwrunners.org.
· Finally, register and run the race! Encourage your family, friends
and co-workers to join you.
