The Fort Worth Runners Club (FWRC) members gathered at our annual Post Cowtown Marathon Celebration on March 4 at the Cowtown Office. Heidi Swartz, the Executive Director, was first and foremost congratulated for the success of the 36th running of the Cowtown Marathon. The FWRC holds this annual event to recognize our most outstanding sponsor and runners of the previous year. RunTime Racing Services received the award of Sponsor of the Year 2013. We were pleased to have Rocky and Laura Higginbotham and associate Dan Bina present to receive this award.
In the Running categories everyone was present to receive their awards. The “Runners of the Year 2013”, were John Ross and Laura Nelson. Both runners participated in all 10-point gathering events. In fact they also enjoyed the other two events, The High Noon Shoot Out and the State Championship Labor Day 15K.
In the Most Improved Category, Alex Loyola, and Cathy Buchanan were recognized for their improvement in running during the previous 12 months of the Calendar year.
Volunteer of the Year Awards were also presented to FWRC members Michael Polansky and Lynda Parra for donating their time and hard work to help the club. Volunteers are hard to come by and when it came to needing help month after month, these two outstanding members were there to help in freezing temperatures and early mornings!
The program was then capped off by a brief summary of events to come in 2014. There were lots of running stories, photos taken then posted on social media sites and all enjoyed BBQ finger foods and drinks. The only thing that could have made this gathering better would have been a run before the party!
See you on the trails!
